Codeshare Agreements
What is a codeshare agreement?
Codeshare is a commercial agreement between two airlines, where one airline operates the flight and other market this flight and issue tickets for it as if they were operating the flight themselves.
How codeshare agreements can be implemented in-game?
There would be 5 levels of codeshare agreements that an airline can upgrade to.
An airline will be able to have a maximum of 50 codeshare agreements.
-
Level 1: allows up to 2 codeshare agreements with different airlines
-
Level 2: allows up to 5 codeshare agreements with different airlines
-
Level 3: allows up to 10 codeshare agreements with different airlines
-
Level 4: allows up to 20 codeshare agreements with different airlines
-
Level 5: allows up to 50 codeshare agreements with different airlines
The advantage of having codeshare agreements
Airline A and B have a codeshare agreement with each other. They both fly into Rome (FCO). Both airlines would receive a 1% revenue boost for each flight flying into Rome (FCO).
1% revenue boost would be available only for destinations common to both airlines. And only for arriving flights. Not for departing flights.
If Airline A has codeshare agreements with Airline B and C, but Airline B and C don't have a codeshare agreement. All three airlines fly into London (LCY). Then,
Airline A would receive a 2% revenue boost. Airline B would receive a 1% revenue boost. Airline C would receive a 1% revenue boost.
Cost of each level
An airline would have to buy the "Level 1" to unlock codeshare agreements.
I would suggest the cost of unlocking/upgrading the levels as follows:
-
Level 1: $10,000,000 (for upto 2 agreements, $5,000,000 each)
-
Level 2: $22,500,000 (for upto 5 agreements, $4,500,000 each)
-
Level 3: $40,000,000 (for upto 10 agreements, $4,000,000 each)
-
Level 4: $70,000,000 (for upto 20 agreements, $3,500,000 each)
-
Level 5: $150,000,000 (for upto 50 agreements, $3,000,000 each)
There would be NO FLAT FEES as this is a revenue boost system.
This is just a suggestion. The cost of Levels can be discussed and decided by the Admins. Also, the percentage of revenue boost can be discussed and decided by the Admins.
Please Note: Suggestion for Codeshare Agreements and Interline Agreements (#209) is pretty much the same. The only difference is that CODESHARE AGREEMENTS WOULD GIVE A REVENUE BOOST and INTERLINE AGREEMENTS WOULD GIVE A PASSENGER BOOST. If I haven't suggested this correctly and if it makes more sense to have a revenue boost on interline agreements and passenger boost on codeshare agreements that can be done too.
